Julian Carson

Julian is an experienced environmental professional with a strong background in Environmental Science and Management, specialising in ecosystems and biodiversity. He has developed his expertise through a combination of research, hands-on restoration work, and field ecology roles across Australia and New Zealand. Julian brings practical experience in ecological surveys, threatened species identification, bushland management, and biodiversity offset monitoring, supported by a broad range of technical certifications including chainsaw operation, four-wheel driving, chemical accreditation, and first aid.

Most recently, Julian worked as a Biodiversity Supervisor with the Department of Conservation in New Zealand, where he led threatened species recovery programs in remote and challenging environments on Rakiura/Stewart Island. In this role, he managed teams of field staff, coordinated complex conservation programs, and contributed directly to on-ground works such as fauna monitoring, trapping, bird banding, and biosecurity operations. Prior to this, Julian worked as a Field Ecologist with EcoResolve Environment & Design and as an Environmental Restoration Supervisor, where he gained extensive experience in ecological monitoring, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and large-scale restoration works. Julian combines strong leadership skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach to deliver effective outcomes in biodiversity conservation and land management.
